DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke volleyball team will open its home portion of the 2021 slate Wednesday, Feb. 17 versus Appalachian State. Wednesday's contest will be broadcast on ACCNX at 6:30 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium. Fans can access ACCNX online via WatchESPN.
LAST TIME OUT
Duke started off the spring on a high note with a 3-0 sweep over VCU Tuesday, Feb. 9, in Richmond, Va.

Franky Harrison also added 15 to limit VCU to just a .123 hitting percentage for the match.
The Blue Devils hit .283 as a team and were led by
Ade Owokoniran and
Gracie Johnson with 15 and 12 kills, respectively.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE SERIES
Duke leads the series 20-6 against the Mountaineers and are 2-0 under head coach

The Blue Devils are riding an eight-match win streak and in the last meeting on Sept. 7, 2019, Duke secured a 3-0 sweep in Cameron Indoor Stadium. Five of the last seven matchups with the Mountaineers have been sweeps for Duke.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
The Mountaineers had a tough fall with a 1-13 overall record as they played South Alabama, Georgia State, Coastal Carolina and Troy from the Sun Belt.
Appalachian State is led by Lexi Kohut with 147 kills as setter Sophie Cain has dished 271 assists. As a team, the Mountaineers are hitting just .119 percent this year.
AMONG THE TOP IN THE ACC
The Blue Devils enter Wednesday's match in the top five of ACC statistics in eight different categories: opponent hitting percentage (1st), opponent assists (4th), opponent kills (4th), blocks (4th), opponent blocks (4th), service aces (3rd), opponent service aces (3rd) and digs (2nd).
Duke has racked up 579 total digs through nine contests for a 16.54 dig/set average and has accumulated 52 service aces (1.49 ace/set). In the fall, Duke once led the nation in blocks per set and is now fourth in the conference with 90.0 total team blocks and 2.57 blocks/set. Duke leads the ACC in opponent hitting percentage (.155).
BLOCK PARTY MOVES TO THE SPRING
Duke's block has continued to be a strong point of emphasis through nine games in 2020-21. Duke owns 90.0 total team blocks for a 2.57 block/set avergae. The Blue Devils' best middle blockers from the 2019 season continue to make an impact this year as
Lily Cooper and
Lizzie Fleming combined for 74 blocks and 10 solo.
Rookie
Georgia Stavrinides is fifth in the conference with 28 blocks (1.22 blocks/set). Fleming (38, 1.09), Cooper (36, 1.03),
Ade Owokoniran (24, 0.69) and
Gracie Johnson (18, 0.53) round out Duke's ACC blocking presence.
