Breland Signs with Indiana Fever of WNBA

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women's basketball operations intern Jessica Breland has signed with the Indiana Fever of the WNBA for the 2021 campaign.
"Jessica is another key addition we were looking for during this free agency period, " Indiana Head Coach Marianne Stanley said. "She is an excellent rebounder, shot blocker and mid-range scorer. Her experience and versatility will enable her to impact the game at both ends of the floor."
Breland's WNBA journey includes a stop with the Fever during the 2013 season. In 30 games with the Fever, Breland averaged 5.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 block per contest.
The 6-foot-2 forward will be entering her 10th WNBA season in 2021. She was medically excused from participating in the 2020 season after a previous Hodgkin's lymphoma diagnosis in college.
Breland last played in 2019 with the Atlanta Dream and started all 33 games she appeared in, while averaging 7.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 block per game. During the 2019 season, she became the 19th player in WNBA history to record 300 career blocks.
She has totaled 1,766 points, 1,423 rebounds, 328 blocks, 324 assists and 188 steals throughout her career. In 20 career playoff games, Breland has averaged6.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game.
This past November, Breland joined Duke head coach Kara Lawson and her staff as an operations intern.
