DURHAM, N.C. – The NCAA announced Wednesday that Duke redshirt junior
Josh Finesilver will enter the 2021 NCAA Wrestling Championships as the No. 27 overall seed in the 149-pound bracket.
Finesilver will wrestle the No. 6 seed Bryce Andonian of Virginia Tech in the Thursday morning round. Finesilver and Andonian are familiar foes, having already wrestled earlier this season during Duke's dual match with the Hokies on January 29th. Andonian was able to get the better of Finesilver in that match pinning him 1:02 into the bout.
Despite not meeting at the ACC Championships, Andonian finished second at the conference event with Finesilver coming in right behind him in third. Finesilver currently holds a 6-3 overall record heading into the tournament, while Andonian boosts an 8-2 mark.
Finesilver brings a 48-35 career record to nationals, having most recently defeated NC State's Ed Scott by a gutsy 10-5 decision to claim a spot on the ACC podium.
The NCAA revealed its 33 seeds for all 10 weight classes Wednesday as the championship is quickly approaching and due to start Thursday, March 18 at Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Mo.
