STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Through three rounds of pool play during the first day at the 2021 NCAA Fencing Championship, the Duke fencing team is currently in sixth place in the team standings with 44 points.

Notre Dame holds first place with 67 points, followed by Penn State (61), Boston College (51), U.C. San Diego (47) and NJ Institute of Technology (46) to round out the top five.Â

Representing the Duke men on the fencing strips today was
Finn Hossfeld (foil),
Stephen Kim (saber),
Ping Ping Kitsiriboon (saber),
Jason Post (epee) and
Brycen Rushing (foil).Â
Â
Hossfeld headlines the Blue Devil contingent in third place with 13 out of 15 victories while Rushing is in eighth with nine wins.Â

Also holding eighth place is Post with eight successes in epee.Â
Â
Rounding out Duke's opening day performances is Kim in ninth (9) and Kitsiriboon in 19th (5).Â
Â
The Blue Devil men will compete in their final eight bouts in pool play in their respective weapons Friday and will attempt to move up the leaderboard with their focus on a top-four spot. The four fencers in each weapon with the best marks will advance to the semifinals of a single-elimination bracket of 15-touch bouts.

The semifinal and championship bouts will be aired on ESPN3 and WatchESPN beginning at 1:30 p.m.
