Deja Davis was named a Top 25 Finalist for the 2021 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, as announced by the organization on Friday afternoon.
The honor marks the first time in program history that a Blue Devil has been recognized as a finalist for the award.
Davis was one of four student-athletes from the ACC selected as Clemson's Valerie Cagle, Virginia Tech's Keely Rochard and Notre Dame's Abby Sweet were also recognized.
The Cerritos, Calif., native leads the Blue Devils in batting average (.385), slugging percentage (.648), on base percentage (.442), hits (47), triples (5) and total bases (79). She ranks second in the ACC in triples, third in hits, sixth in totally bases and eighth in batting average.
The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, which is considered the most prestigious honor in Division I women's collegiate softball, recognizes the outstanding athletic achievement by female collegiate softball student-athletes across the country.
The Top 25 will be narrowed down to a Top 10 list on May 5. The Top 3 will come out on May 19 and the award winner will be announced prior to the start of the NCAA Women's College World Series (WCWS).
