NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – Battling through adverse weather conditions for much of the first round, the Duke men's golf team opened play in the NCAA Noblesville Regional on Monday at the Sagamore Club in suburban Indianapolis.
After Monday's round was delayed an hour by rain and with rain failing much of the day, freshman
Ian Siebers led Duke by shooting a 3-over 75 and is tied for 41st on the individual leaderboard. Senior
Adrien Pendaries is a shot back at 4-over 76 and in a tie for 49th.
Senior
Qi wen Wong and graduate student
Steven DiLisio each posted scores of 5-over 77 and are tied for 58th, while senior
Evan Katz is tied for 66th at 7-over 79.
The Blue Devils are in 11th place through 18 holes after shooting a 17-over 305 on Monday. The team has work to do over the final 36 holes on Tuesday and Wednesday to finish in the top five and earn a trip to the NCAA Championship.
Texas holds the first round after shooting 6-under as a team, followed by Tennessee (-3), North Florida (-3), North Carolina (-3) and Louisville (even) to round out the top five. The Longhorns' Travis Vick shot 4-under 68 and is the 18-hole leader -- one clear of the field.
