DURHAM, N.C. – After a thrilling quarterfinal run in the NCAA Championship and four student-athletes reaching the round of 16 in individuals, the Duke women's tennis program finished the season ranked No. 8 in the nation, as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced Wednesday.
Duke was one of the biggest risers in the final poll of the season, jumping from No. 18 to No. 8. The Blue Devils used wins over two top-10 opponents to propel them back into the top-10. Over the past four seasons, Duke has been ranked in the top-10 in 48 of the past 57 ITA rankings.
2021 National Champion Texas checks in at No. 1 in the final poll of the season, followed by North Carolina, Pepperdine, Georgia, UCLA, NC State, Florida State, Duke, Virginia and Georgia Tech to round out the top-10.
The final Tennis Channel/USTA College Tennis Top-25 Poll also was released this week, with the Blue Devils checking in at No. 9 after ranking No. 14 in the country in the last poll. Texas ranks No. 1 in this poll as well, with NCAA finalist Pepperdine, North Carolina, NC State, UCLA, Georgia, Ohio State, Florida State, Duke and Michigan rounding out the top-10.
