MANHEIM, Pa. – The National Wresting Coaches Association has announced its yearly list of Scholar All-Americans, with redshirt junior
Josh Finesilver named to the 2021 list.
Finesilver joins an exclusive group of 191 individuals from 59 different Division I institutions who have combined excellence on the mats and in the classroom. The evolutionary anthropology major capped off a strong season that saw him go 9-5 overall, 3-5 against top-25 opponents and qualify for his third NCAA Championship.
His run at the NCAA Championship was particularly prolific, as Finesilver earned a win over the No. 5 ranked wrestler in the nation as part of a three-win stretch. Seeded 27th overall, Finesilver wrestled his way through the wrestleback portion of the bracket and came up one win shy of All-America honors.
The recognition also comes on the heels of Finesilver being named to the 2020-21 All-ACC Academic Team. The Greenwood Village, Colo., native has now been named to two NWCA Scholar All-America teams and three All-ACC Academic Teams in his collegiate career. It also marks the ninth straight season with at least one NWCA Scholar All-America honoree, with at least one in every year under head coach
Glen Lanham.
