DURHAM – Duke women's soccer rising senior
Delaney Graham has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team for the 2020-21 season, the College Sports Information Directors of America recently announced.
Graham becomes the eighth Blue Devil to be selected an Academic All-American and the fourth Duke women's soccer student-athlete to garner Second Team accolades. The Atlanta, Ga., native joins North Carolina's Brianna Pinto and Rachel Jones as the only student-athletes representing an ACC program on this year's Academic All-America teams.
Graham proved to be one of the most versatile players in the nation this past season, starting 18-of-19 matches and contributing as a defender and a forward. The All-ACC Third Team pick netted two goals – which were scored in back-to-back games in October – while her five assists were tied for second on the team. Defensively, she served as a key member of Duke's back line that registered 12 clean sheets and nine shutout wins, which both ranked second in the ACC. Graham helped the Blue Devils reach the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament in May, and capped off her junior campaign by earning United Soccer Coaches All-Region status.
Now entering her fourth year with the Duke program, the Biology major owns an impressive 3.93 GPA and has collected a number of recognitions for her efforts in the classroom. She was tapped to the All-ACC Academic team for the third consecutive year in June, earned a spot on the 2020 ACC Honor Roll and was named to the Dean's List in the both the fall of 2018 and spring of 2019.
Graham and the Blue Devils kick off the 2021 season with an exhibition match against Georgia on Tuesday, Aug. 10 at Koskinen Stadium. The match is set to begin at 6 p.m. ET.
