CONWAY, S.C. – Duke men's soccer registered a 1-1 draw in an exhibition game at No. 25 Coastal Carolina on Thursday evening at the CCU Soccer Stadium.

Thursday's contest marked Duke's first of three-straight road exhibition matches and first of four preseason games.

The Blue Devils jumped out to an early lead after sophomore
Thorleifur Ulfarsson netted an unassisted goal in the 12th minute. Ulfarsson led the team in goals last season with four and started his 2021 campaign quickly with four shots, including three on frame.

The Blue Devils held that slim 1-0 edge until the Chanticleers secured a late equalizer in the 88th minute following a strike from Michael Fowler.

The two sides played a tight match from the start, with Coastal Carolina holding the narrow 12-11 advantage on shots. Senior

JT Harms combined to add four saves in goal for Duke.

Next up for the Blue Devils will be an exhibition game against UNC Wilmington on Saturday at 7 p.m. During the teams' last meeting on Feb. 26, 2021, the schools played to a double overtime 0-0 tie in Durham.
