Blue Devils Announce 2021 Fall Schedule

DURHAM – The Duke softball program has announced its fall schedule Wednesday, exactly one month from the first home game of the season. The slate features eight exhibition games, the first ever alumni game and culminates with the Fall World Series in November.
"We are excited to get back on the field to compete this fall," said head coach Marissa Young. "We feel that the teams on our schedule will help us prepare well for the 2022 season."
The Blue Devils open the fall season with a two-game stint in Charlotte, N.C., facing Charlotte Oct. 2 at 3 p.m., and South Carolina Oct. 3 at 12 p.m. The Blue Devils will face the two teams again after defeating both in back-to-back games during the 2021 regular season, with a 5-1 win at South Carolina on Feb. 28, 2021, and 5-3 win at Charlotte on Mar. 3, 2021.
Following the road stint, the Blue Devils start a four-game home stretch against in-state opponents, beginning with a 6:30 p.m. game against NC State Oct. 8. The Blue Devils then play host to East Carolina and UNC-Greensboro Oct. 16 and Oct. 17, at 2 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively. The four-game stint concludes with a matchup against Campbell on Oct. 22 at 6 p.m.
Several members of the first four teams in program history will be back on campus for the alumni game on Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. The Blue Devils will follow that up with battles at Elon Oct. 29 at 6 p.m., and versus North Carolina A&T at home Nov. 5 at 5 p.m.
For the final events of the fall, the Duke Softball Stadium will play host to two intrasquad World Series games Nov. 6 and Nov. 7 at 5 p.m. on both days. The second annual showdown will see the Blue vs. Black teams face off, after the Blue team won the inaugural series last year.
