DURHAM – Swimming and diving sophomore
Sarah Foley was named this week's Duke PNC Achievers Student-Athlete of the Week, following her recording-setting performance against North Carolina Friday.
Foley earned the honor for the second time this season, previously being named the student-athlete of the week on January 10.
The Philadelphia, Pa., native continues to impress in the pool. After setting the program record in the 400 individual medley two weeks ago, Foley etched her name as the program record holder in the 100 breaststroke against North Carolina. She finished in 59.62, her first time going sub one minute. Foley also placed first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:10.76.
As the women's meet was coming down to the wire, Foley lead the Blue Devils to a sweep of the top three spots in the 200 individual medley. Foley crushed the pool record, touching in 1:57.10. She was followed by sophomore
Catherine Belyakov and senior
Cabell Whitlow with times of 2:00.41 and 2:01.17, respectively."
Foley now holds three school records – the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke and 400 individual medley.
The Duke swimming and diving program looks to bounce back from its loss as it travels to Blacksburg, Va., for the Hokie Invitational Feb. 4-6.
