DURHAM – With the Blue Devils in full swing during the fall season, the Duke women's lacrosse program shines its spotlight on its freshman class, this week with
Madison Beale.
Beale was sensational in her final year before heading to Durham. As arguably her team's top defender, Beale often marked their opponents' top offensive threat. She was named the Baltimore Sun Player of the Year, Varsity Sports Network Player of the Year and Varsity Sports Network Defensive Player of the Year for her achievements.
She helped spearhead St. Paul's School for Girls to its second straight Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference title, ending the year ranked No. 1 in The Baltimore Sun top 15 poll and the nation.
Beale joins six other Blue Devils in the
freshman class.
Why did you choose Duke?
Madison Beale: I chose Duke not only for their challenging academics and athletics, but because Coach Kimel, Williams and Griffin really made me feel wanted and that I would be a valuable player at Duke. After getting to join some of the players on zoom calls and seeing the team connection through social media, I found out how family oriented the team was which made my decision to go to Duke clear.
