DURHAM – Duke women's basketball senior
Celeste Taylor has been tabbed Duke's PNC Achievers Student-Athlete of the Week, following her strong performance in the Blue Devils' 71-48 win at Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday.
Taylor filled up the stat sheet en route to the 23-point victory, scoring 14 points to reach 1,000 points for her career. The Valley Stream, N.Y. native also grabbed four boards, blocked three shots and collected a team-high five steals.
She became the second Blue Devil in as many seasons to achieve the benchmark, joining classmate
Elizabeth Balogun, who surpassed the 1,000-point threshold during Duke's 58-49 win at Miami last season (Jan. 18, 2022). Taylor has reached double-figures in seven of the Blue Devils' 11 games and leads the team in scoring with 11.2 points per game.
Duke turns its attention to conference play, beginning with the ACC opener on Wednesday, Dec. 21 against Virginia. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m., live on ACCNX.
PNC Achievers is a student honors platform that is active at nearly 20 schools and universities across PNC Bank's service area. Honorees are selected locally by designated panels at each respective school, using a set of criteria that includes athletic accomplishments, academic achievement, community service and student leadership.
