DURHAM – Duke women's tennis freshman
Emma Jackson has been tabbed the PNC Achievers Student-Athlete of the Week after helping the fifth-ranked Blue Devils capture the program's 18th ACC Championship with a 4-1 victory over No. 7 Virginia on Sunday.
No. 124 Jackson notched the clinching point for Duke as she took down No. 67 Elaine Chervinsky in a back-and-forth, three set match – 3-6, 6-3, 7-6. After trailing 5-4 in the final set, Jackson scored a key break to swing the momentum in her favor, then went on to seal the championship with a 7-3 tiebreaker win.
After earning the ACC's automatic bid, the Blue Devils turn their attention to the NCAA Team Championships, beginning with the NCAA Women's Tennis Selection Show slated for May 2 at 6:30 p.m., on NCAA.com.
