GREENSBORO, N.C. – No. 9 Duke softball set a program record with six players named to an All-ACC Team, as the ACC announced its annual list of honorees Wednesday morning.
Graduate students
Jameson Kavel and
Peyton St. George were named All-ACC first team, while senior
Kristina Foreman was tabbed to the All-ACC second team. Graduate student
Rachel Crabtree, junior
Kamryn Jackson and freshman
Ana Gold all were named to the third team, with Gold also being tabbed to the All-Freshman team.
Kavel and St. George become the first Blue Devils in program history to be named to the All-ACC first team twice in their careers. It's been a breakout season for Kavel, who is hitting .379 with 15 home runs and 42 RBI, while playing every single game this season. The Duluth, Ga., native set countless single-season records, including home runs (15), runs scored (52), while tying the doubles record (15). Kavel adds another accolade to her season after being named a top-25 finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year and ACC Co-Player of the Week.
St. George has been named to an All-ACC team for the third time, becoming the first in program history to do so, after being a first-team honoree in 2021 and a second-team choice in 2019. The Mechanicsville, Va., native has had a stellar campaign, going 20-3 with a 1.64 ERA (128.1 IP) over 30 appearances, striking out 169 batters. St. George's 20 wins are a single-season Blue Devil record, while her 15 strikeouts against NC State set a single-game high.
Foreman earns the first All-ACC honor of her career, following a career-year in which she hit .389 with 13 home runs and 45 RBI. The Tampa, Fla., native's 45 RBI bested her previous career-high, which was a single-season program record. Foreman showed tremendous resilience in bouncing back from an injury suffered at Georgia Tech, accomplishing her numbers in just 40 games to lead the team in batting average, RBI and OPS (1.255).
Crabtree garnered her first All-ACC mention after being tabbed to the All-Freshman team back in 2018. The Huntington Beach, Calif., native became an ACC Player of the Week for the first time this season, hitting .345 with nine home runs and 36 RBI, while drawing 14 walks and 12 hit-by-pitches. The first baseman became the program's all-time leader in walks with 68 and is closing in on 200 career hits, with just three remaining until the rare threshold.
Gold becomes the first freshman in program history to be named to an All-ACC team, after securing a spot on the third team and the All-Freshman squad. The Ballston Spa, N.Y., native has had a big season at third base for the Blue Devils, hitting .333 with nine home runs, 34 RBI, 11 doubles and a team-high 12 stolen bases. Gold joins Crabtree and St. George as the only Blue Devils to make the All-Freshman team in program history.
Jackson earns the first All-ACC nod of her collegiate career after developing a reputation as one of the top nine-hole hitters in the ACC. Jackson is hitting .337 with eight home runs and 33 RBI, while adding eight doubles and stealing 11 bases. The Tampa, Fla., native leads the team in on-base percentage, drawing 18 walks. Jackson also leads her fellow outfielders with four outfield assists.
The Blue Devils kick off their ACC title repeat efforts at the ACC Championship Thursday, facing off against either seventh-seeded Georgia Tech or 10th-seeded NC State at 5 p.m. The game will be televised on ACC Network.
