DURHAM – Following the conclusion of the NCAA Team Championships this past weekend, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released the final team rankings for the 2021-22 campaign, with Duke checking in at No. 4.
The Blue Devils closed the door on an incredible season that saw the team finish with an overall record of 23-4, capture the program's 18th ACC title and first since 2012, while also advancing to the NCAA semifinals for the 11th time in school history and ninth under head coach
Jamie Ashworth.
Duke registered 10 wins over top-25 ranked opponents, including a 5-2 victory over then-undefeated and top-ranked North Carolina on April 15. Additionally, the team reeled off match streaks of 5+ wins on two separate occasions – an eight-match win streak from Jan. 30 – March 25, as well as a 12-match win streak to end the season, before falling to Oklahoma in the national semifinal match.
2022 National Champion Texas checks in at No. 1 in the final poll of the season, followed by Oklahoma, North Carolina, Duke, Virginia, NC State, Texas A&M, Pepperdine, Miami (FL) and Oklahoma State to round out the top-10.
The Blue Devils also were listed No. 4 in the final Tennis Channel/USTA College Tennis Top-25 Poll that was unveiled Wednesday.
