DURHAM – With the regular season right around the corner, Duke men's soccer is set to open its exhibition slate on Saturday, Aug. 13, traveling to Columbia, S.C., to face South Carolina.

The first of three exhibitions for the Blue Devils is set for 6 p.m., and is the lone road contest before a return home to Koskinen Stadium on Tuesday, Aug. 16, against High Point.

In the all-time regular season series, the Blue Devils hold a slight 10-9-2 record against the Gamecocks, with the last meeting coming in 2010.

Last Season
- The Blue Devils went 14-5-1, sealing a finish as ACC Co-Coastal Division champions. The team would go on to reach the third round of the NCAA Championship.
- Under head coach John Kerr, the Blue Devils also reached the ACC Championship game for the first time since 2006.
What to Watch For
- The Blue Devils were tabbed as the No. 12 team in the nation, according to the United Soccer Coaches preseason rankings. It is the highest preseason ranking for the Blue Devils since 2019.
- Junior Peter Stroud was recently named a United Soccer Coaches Midfielder to Watch. Stroud is the team's lone returning All-American and is the reigning ACC Midfielder of the Year.
- Reigning ACC Freshman of the Year Shakur Mohammed is also back, one season after tallying 13 points, including a team-high seven assists.
- Duke went 2-1-1 during the 2021 exhibition slate. The last time Duke faced South Carolina in an exhibition, the two teams drew 2-2 on Aug. 17, 2019.
- Duke has had at least one All-ACC honoree in every season since 1976, including every season of Kerr's tenure.
- Duke welcomes several newcomers to the fold in 2022, with 10 freshmen and a graduate transfer poised to see their first action as a Blue Devil. Kamran Acito, Bryce Barnum, Alex Bonnington, Axel Gudbjornsson, Wayne Frederick, Kenan Hot, Drew Kerr, Josh Kim, Jackson Lagos and Jose Ortega are the new freshmen, while Peter Wentzel joins via Elon.
