DURHAM – The United Soccer Coaches announced the defenders on its NCAA Division I Women's Players to Watch list on Tuesday, with Duke graduate student
Delaney Graham one of 35 selected. Â
The list includes United Soccer Coaches All-Americans and first or second team All-Region players from 2021, who are scheduled to return for the 2022 season.
The Atlanta, Ga., native continued to establish herself as one of the most versatile and consistent players in the ACC this past season, as she started all 21 matches for the Blue Devils and logged 1,782 minutes. Slotted as an outside wingback, Graham contributed to a defensive unit that allowed just 12 goals – the fewest by an ACC team and eighth-fewest nationally. After being held without a point through 18 matches, she recorded a goal and an assist over a two-game stretch in the NCAA Championship, highlighted by her game winner in the 43rd minute against Memphis in the second round on Nov. 19.
Graham was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region Second Team for her efforts on the pitch, picking up All-Region honors for the third consecutive season. She also became just the eighth Blue Devil to receive CoSIDA Academic All-America accolades. Â
Duke will close exhibition action Aug. 12 at home versus South Carolina at 6 p.m., before opening the regular season at East Carolina on Aug. 18. The match versus South Carolina will be free admission at Koskinen Stadium.
