CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Duke wrestling dropped a 45-3 decision to Virginia on Friday night in Charlottesville.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Freshman Ethan Grimminger battled Patrick McCormick of Virginia at 125 pounds to open the night but ultimately dropped an 8-2 decision.
- The Cavaliers kept that momentum going, besting the Blue Devils in nine of ten matches with senior Jonah Niesenbaum scoring the team's lone three points to close out the night.
- In the heavyweight bout, No. 22 Niesenbaum defeated Virginia's Ethan Weatherspoon in a 7-1 decision to collect his 10th straight dual win and move to 22-3 on the season.
UP NEXT
Duke is back on the mat in Cameron Indoor Stadium on Wednesday for a senior night dual against Gardner-Webb. Action is set to begin at 6 p.m.
