Davidson Named PNC Achievers Student-Athlete of the Week

DURHAM – Duke softball junior Claire Davidson has been named Duke's PNC Achievers Student-Athlete of the Week, following a strong performance in the TaxAct Clearwater Invitational over the weekend.
Davidson led the way with her bat, finishing 9-for-16 with two home runs, four doubles, four RBI, and five runs.
The Lakewood Ranch, Fla., native also earned the start in the circle for three of Duke's five games, recording seven strikeouts, while only allowing four runs, three earned, in 13.1 innings of work.
The No. 16 Blue Devils (7-3) are riding a four-game winning streak after defeating three top-25 opponents last weekend in No. 4 Arkansas, No. 20 UCF and No. 25 Michigan.
Duke opens its home schedule with a doubleheader against Charleston Southern on Wednesday at Duke Softball Stadium. The first game is slated for 3 p.m. with the second to follow immediately after.
PNC Achievers is a student honors platform that is active at nearly 20 schools and universities across PNC Bank's service area. Honorees are selected locally by designated panels at each respective school, using a set of criteria that includes athletic accomplishments, academic achievement, community service and student leadership.
