QUOTES
- "I was really proud of our guys today. The start by Healy was amazing. He has showed much growth over the last few weeks. He gave up the solo home run in the second and he went right back to work. We made a mistake in the third and he pitched through that as well. It was a really mature outing by him. Higgins gave us three clean innings out of the bullpen and that was big. Those two guys stemming six innings for us was big for our staff heading into the weekend. A terrific, combined start by those two guys." – Head coach Chris Pollard on the job Andrew Healy and Ryan Higgins did on the mound tonight.
- "We let them off the hook a few times early and had a chance to blow it open there in the second and didn't. We did a good job of just grinding and we did that there in the fifth. One of the things I liked was once we did break through, we kept our foot on the gas pedal. Terrific swings by Andrew Fischer. Alex Mooney had a terrific ballgame as well. The savvy baserunning to take second on the cut throw to score on the ball that skipped away from the catcher was big." – On the ability to continue to score runs and take advantage of free offense.
UP NEXT
- Duke jumps back into conference play this weekend traveling down the road to Chapel Hill, N.C., to face off against No. 15 North Carolina. First pitch is scheduled for Thursday, Mar. 23 at 7 p.m. and is broadcasted live on ACC Network.
