No. 11 Blue Devils Battle East Carolina in Midweek Doubleheader

DURHAM- The 11th ranked Duke softball team hosts East Carolina in a midweek doubleheader at Duke Softball Stadium on Wednesday. The first game is slated for 4 p.m., with the second to follow at 7 p.m.
The Blue Devils (31-8, 10-5 ACC) recorded their second combined no-hitter this season and third in program history on Monday, defeating Elon (14-20, 8-3 CAA), 4-0, at Duke Softball Stadium. Junior Claire Davidson and freshman Sophie Garner-MacKinnon combined in the circle to shut out the Phoenix after allowing just four runners to reach base on two walks and two errors.
East Carolina (23-17, 1-8 AAC) enters the midweek matchup after a 2-1 conference series loss to Houston over the weekend. The Pirates are 0-2 against ranked opponents this season after falling to No. 14 Virginia Tech twice in the UNC Wilmington tournament to open the season. Graduate student Taylor Edwards leads the Pirates' offense, batting .402 with five triples and 23 RBI on the year.

Duke leads the all-time series, 3-1, after meeting for the first time in 2018. The last matchup was in 2022 with the Blue Devils sweeping the Pirates in a doubleheader at Max R. Joyner Stadium in Greenville, N.C. Duke recorded a 6-3 win in the opening game before claiming a 9-1 run rule victory in the nightcap.
