DURHAM – Recent Duke graduate
Maddie Jenner earned 2023 Academic All-America® honors by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), as announced Thursday.
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. Jenner was selected Academic All-District III in May and earned a spot on the Academic All-America® ballot.
She was named a second team honoree for the first time in her career. 2023 marks the second consecutive season Duke landed a women's lacrosse student-athlete on the list.
Jenner returned to the circle in 2023 for her final year of eligibility as arguably the best in the sport at the draw.
In 18 games, Jenner grabbed 187 draws, 29 goals and nine assists for 38 points to rank third on the team. She also owns nine ground balls and six caused turnovers, proving she's more than just a draw control specialist.
Over the course of her career, she amassed 791 total draws and as the nation's NCAA active career leader in draw controls per game (9.56) and total draw controls (791). She broke the NCAA Division I all-time draw control record in Duke's win over Gardner-Webb (2/19) in addition to the NCAA single-season draw control record last spring (233). She reached the 100 point and 100-goal milestones this season, adding to her impressive resume.
