Barton, the 6-5, 314-pound offensive lineman, returns for his third season as Duke's starting left tackle and in 31 career games (30 starts), he has amassed 2,160 snaps. At the conclusion of the 2022 campaign, the Brentwood, Tenn., native was selected an honorable mention All-American by Phil Steele Publications and a first team All-ACC honoree. Barton anchored an offensive line unit that ranked first in the conference in sacks allowed (17) and tackles for loss allowed (51).
Monk returns for his fifth season as a starter along the offensive line and second consecutive as the Blue Devils' center. The two-time team captain has played 3,051 snaps in 46 career games and was named a preseason All-ACC selection by Athlon Sports (3rd team) heading into the upcoming season. A year ago, the 6-3, 320-pound Clayton, N.C., native was named an honorable mention All-ACC selection after assisting the offense in accumulating 2,394 rushing and 3,010 passing yards, while helping Duke register 31 rushing touchdowns, a program record for a single-season.
Carter returns for his third consecutive season as Duke's starting defensive tackle. The three-time team captain has compiled 86 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, 11.0 sacks, seven caused fumbles, three fumble recoveries, 11 quarterback pressures and seven pass breakups in 39 career games. The Pickerington, Ohio, native has recorded two-plus tackles in 19 career games, including a career-high nine tackles against Georgia Tech in 2022. Additionally, the 6-3, 305-pound tackle enters the 2023 campaign tied for fourth in program history for caused fumbles and just 0.5 sacks shy of becoming the 17th Duke player with 11.5 career sacks.
Oben returns for his third season as Duke's starting defensive end and has appeared in 38 career games (23 starts). He has registered 50 tackles, 14.0 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, one interception, five caused fumbles and 18 QB pressures. The 6-4, 260-pound Montclair, N.J., native has recorded two-plus tackles in 14 contests, including a career-best five against Charlotte and Pittsburgh in 2021. Oben enters the 2023 season one caused fumble shy of breaking into the program's career top-six chart and just 2.0 sacks shy of becoming the 17th Duke player with 11.5 career sacks.
Jones joined the Blue Devils this season after a six-year career with Texas A&M University. In 49 career games (21 starts), Jones has registered 124 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, four interceptions, 29 pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one quarterback pressure. The 6-4, 194-pound Magnolia, Texas, native has tallied four-plus tackles on 14 occasions, including a career-high nine tackles against Wake Forest in 2017.
