DURHAM – The Voice of the Blue Devils, David Shumate, sat down with senior tight end Nicky Dalmolinfor a brief question and answer session.
DS: At what point in camp did you guys realize you were going to have a launchpad to help begin the season like you did? ND: When you get to that middle of camp period, that is where most teams begin to separate themselves. I think we handled that point in camp really well and that shows how good of a team we really are.
DS: How do you credit the ability of the pass catchers to help Riley [Leonard] and those guys be efficient in the passing game this season? ND: The experience that we have in the wide receivers room, the tight end room and the running back room, all doing their part in the passing game, shows how hard we have worked the past two years to get to this point.
DS: How do you see the tight end role in this offense, being able to see all facets of the game like a quarterback? ND: The tight end position in our offense is really important. Like you said, whether it is the run game or pass game, our role is really important in those aspects.
DS: You guys hit the road for the first time this season, how do you maintain that success on the road like you have had at home to start the year? ND: We have to understand that it is the same game. Operating at the same standard and tempo offensively, attacking the same way we would at home.
DS: You are a cinematic films minor and a movie buff. What is your favorite movie? ND: Prisoners starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Parasite directed by Bong Joon-ho.
DS: If there was to be a Nicky Dalmolin movie, who would play you and why? ND: Oh, Cillian Murphy. I love the guy and loved Oppenheimer and Peaky Blinders.
DS: You have a lot of football ahead of you, but are you an in front of the camera guy or behind the camera guy? ND: I haven't decided yet. There are a lot of areas in the cinematic field that I enjoy. I also took a screen writing class my freshman year, so I think the creative side would be cool. If I had to choose a style of movie that I would be into it would be a suspenseful thriller.
