DURHAM – The Voice of the Blue Devils, David Shumate, sat down with graduate running back Jordan Watersfor a brief question and answer session.
DS: What is your favorite part about playing in Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium? JW: It allows my family to come into town and see me play. I am only about two hours from home, so it is nice to see my mom, nephews, siblings, and girlfriend come down. It is a great feeling knowing I have a lot of family in the stands. Playing in front of our fans is also a good thing.
DS: Do you have goals set up for the season and how do you view those throughout the year? JW: My goal is the big picture. I want to win the ACC Championship and go further than we did last year. I want to win more games. I have personal goals, but it is much more about our team goals.
DS: It feels like this camp has more of a professional feel because of the older guys on the team. Do you feel the same about how it has gone this season? JW: I do, and I love that about our program. We come out to practice and into the weight room with a different mindset. We take care of our bodies and always talk about being professionals. Every day is an interview, so we have to treat each day like we are professionals. It helps us for when we do get to the next level down the road.
DS: Professionals have superstitions and routines as well. How do you approach the day when getting ready for a night game? JW: Honestly, I get a little nervous. I like to chill and watch some TV and talk to my mom to cool my mind. When I get on that field the switch flips and I am ready to go. My routine is to eat something light, probably some fruit because I don't want to eat anything heavy.
DS: When you aren't on the football field or studying in the classroom what do you like to do with your free time? JW: I like to hang out with my friends and get some food.
