LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – Duke volleyball was swept 3-0 (13-25, 16-25, 10-25) by No. 3 Louisville on Friday evening at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena.
On offense, Duke was paced by
Kerry Keefe, who tallied 10 kills, while
Grace Penn logged a team-high nine assists. Libero
Mailinh Godschall recorded six digs to pace the Blue Devils.
Duke was limited to a .022 hitting percentage while Louisville ended the match with a .432 hitting percentage of its own. The Cardinals finished with nine blocks to Duke's three and also added six service aces, while the Blue Devils did not record an ace in the match.
How it Happened
- In the first set, Duke and Louisville traded points, with the Cardinals leading 15-11 at the media timeout. Louisville closed the set on a 7-0 run and led the match 1-0.
- The Cardinals used a 6-1 run to begin the second set before extending their lead to 11-5 with a Sofia Diaz Maldonado kill. Duke was able to stop the run and cut the Louisville lead to three points with a Cardinals service error, a Kerry Keefe kill, and a solo block by Breonna Goss.
- Following a Duke timeout in the second set, Louisville stretched its lead to 21-11, before the Blue Devils clawed back into the set with three consecutive points, before falling 25-16.
- After a back-and-forth start to the third set, which saw Duke leading twice, Louisville used a 4-0 run to extend their lead to 7-3, before Avery Hamiln registered a kill to cut into the Cardinal's lead.
- Duke continued to keep the deficit close in the third set, trailing 12-8, before Louisville used a 3-0 run to extend its lead to 15-8 at the media timeout. The Blue Devils would fall in the third set following a 10-2 run by Louisville to sweep Duke.

- Louisville extends its winning streak over the Blue Devils in program history to 11 consecutive matches, dating back to Duke's latest victory on Nov. 4, 2016.
- Kerry Keefe led Duke with her 10 kills, her seventh match in the past eight attempts with 10-plus kills.
- Grace Penn led the Blue Devils with nine assists, snapping a 14-match stretch where she had recorded double-digit assists. In his last five matches, Penn has 143 assists (28.6 assists/match).

- Louisville out-blocked Duke, 9-3.
