HOW IT HAPPENED
- Duke and Cal battled back-and-forth in the opening set with the Blue Devil defense holding strong. Duke out-blocked Cal four to one and forced nine ties with six lead changes until the Golden Bears were able to pull ahead and claim the set, 25-21.
- The Blue Devils found their momentum in the second set, stretching an eight-point gap to hold a 20-12 advantage. Back-to-back kills from Breonna Goss and Lauren Ingram helped secure the second set victory, 25-16.
- Cal used a 7-3 run to open the third set before an attack error and another kill by Ingram helped cut into the Golden Bears' lead. Cal responded with six straight points to pull ahead again, 16-8. The Blue Devils were unable to close the gap and fell 25-17 in the third set.
- Duke took an early lead in the fourth set, scoring three of the first four points using a pair of kills from Taylor Williams and Keefe and a Cal service error. However, the Bears responded with six unanswered points to regain the lead. Cal continued to hold Duke at arm's length for the remainder of the frame to seal the victory, 25-19, in the end.
