DURHAM – Duke wrestling (4-10) dropped a 36-9 decision to No. 19 Pitt (8-6) on Friday night in Cameron Indoor Stadium.Â
Senior Logan Agin and sophomore Connor Barket scored Duke's nine points on the evening, after registering a pin and 7-1 decision, respectively.Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
Agin opened the night in strong fashion, pinning Pitt's Colton Comancho less than one minute into the 125-pound bout to give the Blue Devils an early 6-0 lead.Â
Pitt immediately responded with a pair of tech falls and a pin to jump ahead, 16-6.Â
In the 165-pound match, sophomore Gaetano Console battled hard against No. 15 Holden Heller. After a scoreless first period, Console used an escape to score the first point of the match.Â
The Barrington Hills, Ill., native continued to fight, but dropped a 7-2 decision in the end.Â
In the final match of the night, Barket showed his strength early, scoring a takedown 11 seconds into the heavyweight battle.Â
Barket stretched his lead in the third period with another takedown to seal the win, 7-1, over Geoff Magin of Pitt.Â
NOTESÂ
Agin recorded his fastest fall of the season after just 52 seconds into the 125-pount match. It also marked his second career ACC victory.  Â
With the win, Barket becomes the first sophomore to register at least 14 wins in a season since Matt Finesilver (25) and Kaden Russell (17) in the 2018-19 season.Â
The ACC victory was Barket's first of his short career. Â
Barket and Agin continue to lead the team with 14 and 10 wins on the year, respectively.Â
QUOTESÂ
"Overall, I think the effort was better. That's a good, tough, gritty team. We responded in some ways and in some ways we didn't. But you know, it's back to the drawing board. We have three duals left and we'll see where we're at." -- Duke head coach Glen LanhamÂ
"He's capable of doing that kind of stuff. He just has to understand that he's capable of wrestling like that every single time. That's the that's the frustrating part on my end. When you see him do something like that, he's capable of it. He just has to find a way to do it. A lot of it is up to him right now. He can be a guy that could get to nationals or not, but it's just based upon him. Good week of preparation. He responded well to it and I think that's the end result of it." -- Duke head coach Glen Lanham on Logan Agin's performanceÂ
