Duke Ends West Swing, Turns Attention to Dual Match Season

TEMPE, Ariz. – Duke men's tennis got in its final swings before the start of dual match play at Arizona State last week, competing against individuals from the host Sun Devils, Oklahoma and Texas A&M.

Blue Devil senior Connor Krug was named the week's singles champion after posting a 3-0 record across three days of matches. He opened play with a 7-6 (2), 7-5 victory versus Oklahoma's Bruno Nhavene. Krug then took a pair of three-set decisions against Texas A&M foes, coming back to down Togan Tokac 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 and Giulio Perego 1-6, 6-1, 6-4.

In other Duke singles action, graduate Andreja Petrovic posted a 2-1 mark with sophomore Cooper Williams capturing his lone match.

The Blue Devil doubles squads featured multiple lineups with graduate Remy Dugardin and junior Gerard Planelles Ripoll combining for the best mark at 1-1 after splitting decisions with Texas A&M pairs.

Duke opens the dual match season Saturday with a 12 noon match versus Elon at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center.
