FORT WORTH, Texas – Duke redshirt sophomore quarterback Darian Mensah was announced as part of the Davey O'Brien QB Class of 2025. The quarterbacks within the group are officially in contention for the 2025 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award.
The Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award is presented annually to the nation's best college quarterback and is the oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award. The 49th Annual Davey O'Brien Awards Dinner honoring the winner will be held Monday, February 16, 2026, at The Fort Worth Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
In his first season at Duke, Mensah leads the ACC in passing yards (2,211), passing yards per game (315.9), passing touchdowns (17), pass efficiency (165.8) and pass completions per game (25.0). He ranks within the top 10 nationally in passing yards per game (1st), pass completions per game (6th), passing yards (8th) and passing efficiency (10th). Mensah owns the second most passing yards in Duke history through seven games of a season, trailing only Anthony Dilweg's 2,402 in 1988, and the most passing touchdowns.
Mensah, a product of San Luis Obispo, Calif., has thrown for two touchdowns and at least 250 yards in each of his seven games at Duke. He enters Saturday with an active streak of 170 consecutive passes without a pick, the sixth-longest streak in program history. His last interception was at the 3:28 mark of the second quarter at Tulane on September 13.
