DURHAM, N.C. - Prior to Duke football's home clash against No. 20 Virginia, Blue Devils from all eras gathered to celebrate Executive Director of Athletic Medicine Hap Zarzour.Â
Zarzour, who also heads Duke's Integrative Performance Excellence Group, has been a fixture in Durham since arriving at the university in 1992. His commitment to student-athlete care has covered decades of Blue Devils, especially Duke football. His work exemplifies the values that define Duke's approach to student-athlete health and well-being. Under his leadership, Duke Athletic Medicine has become one of the preeminent sports medicine programs in the country.
To honor Zarzour's legacy, Eileen Brooks P'04 and former Blue Devil kicker Matt Brooks T'04, B'09, L'09 established the Robert "Hap" Zarzour Athletic Training Endowment, dedicated to supporting the operational needs of Duke Athletic Medicine. This fund strengthens a critical area of Duke Athletics, ensuring the highest standards of wellness and medical care for Duke student-athletes.
The Brooks family is matching up to $600K towards this initiative. If you are interested in learning more or making a leadership gift, please don't hesitate to contact the Iron Dukes office.
