DURHAM, N.C. -- The Duke University Department of Athletics has released its 2024-25 Annual Report, which details the storylines, moments and accomplishments of another outstanding year for the Blue Devils.
Check out some of the highlights below:
- A total of 20 Duke teams were represented in NCAA Championship postseason play, including football's appearance at the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl, baseball hosting a Super Regional, women's soccer and men's basketball advancing to the NCAA semifinals and women's basketball back to the Elite Eight.Â
- Duke Athletics finished the 2024-25 campaign ranked 10th in the Learfield Directors' Cup standings, representing the Blue Devils' best finish since 2018-19 and the most points since 2013-14. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in the NCAA Championships. The Blue Devils have finished in the top 30 all but twice in the 30 years since the Directors' Cup standings were originated in 1993-94.
- Cooper Flagg, the consensus 2025 Men's Basketball National Player of the Year, was selected as the 2024-25 recipient of the Anthony J. McKevlin Award as the ACC Male Athlete of the Year, as voted on by 55 members of the Atlantic Coast Conference media. Flagg is the 17th Duke player to earn the award – the most in league history. Flagg led Duke to the ACC regular season and tournament titles, a Final Four appearance in the NCAA Tournament and a 35-4 overall record.Â
- Duke had 17 players drafted into their respective professional leagues, including a pair of No. 1 picks from men's basketball (Cooper Flagg) and men's lacrosse in (Brennan O'Neill/NLL). Five others signed free agent contracts.Â
- Both the Duke men's and women's basketball teams captured the ACC Tournament crown, marking the seventh time in Blue Devil history both trophies came back to Durham (2000-03, 2010, 2011, 2025). For the men, their sweep through the tourney in Charlotte marked their 23rd crown, the most of any program (UNC stands second with 18). It was the second ACC Tournament won by the Blue Devils in coach Jon Scheyer's three seasons. He also won two as a player, the only person to win it as a player and coach. Duke women's coach Kara Lawson also saw plenty of players step up during their championship run through the ACC Tournament in Greensboro. Overall the Blue Devils dropped just four ACC games during the regular season – all setbacks they were able to avenge in the title run. The Wolfpack and Fighting Irish were the top two seeds after tying for first place in the regular season.Â
- History was made in 2025 as the Duke men's track and field team parlayed a phenomenal final day of competition into its first ACC Championship – indoor or outdoor – in program history. The Blue Devils culminated the three-day conference meet with a strong last day of competition, posting medals in the 200m, 400m and 4x400m events while totaling 29 points for the day to finish the weekend with 86 points for the first-place finish. Overall, the Blue Devils concluded the 2025 ACC Outdoor Championships with titles in the men's hammer throw, men's pole vault and women's 4x400m relay. Duke men and women totaled 14 medals and 33 All-ACC honors.
- Duke women's soccer turned in a banner season to send head coach Robbie Church into retirement in style. Â The Blue Devils totaled an 18-3-1 overall record and a 9-0-1 ACC ledger. Â Duke advanced to the NCAA College Cup for the fifth time in program history, won the ACC Regular Season title for the fourth time in Blue Devil history. Duke collected school records in goals (68), assists (79) and points (215), tying the national mark for best win turnaround (12). Â Four different Blue Devils were tabbed All-America and Academic All-America and Duke was ranked No. 1 for the most weeks in program history (4).
- A Duke University record 16 varsity athletics programs registered a perfect 1000 score in the most recent multi-year (2020-24) Academic Progress Report (APR) data released on Tuesday by the NCAA. The 16 teams with a perfect score is the most by Duke in a single season, equaling the standard established in the spring of 2023 and topping last season's total of 14. The NCAA began reporting APR data in 2004-05. In all, Duke totaled the highest APR score among ACC institutions in 17 of the league's sports – baseball (1000), field hockey (1000), men's cross country (1000), men's golf (1000), men's lacrosse (1000), men's swimming and diving (1000), men's track and field (1000), softball (1000), women's cross country (1000), women's fencing (1000), women's golf (1000), rowing (998), women's soccer (1000), women's swimming and diving (1000), women's tennis (1000), women's track and field (1000) and volleyball (1000).
- Statistics for the Graduation Success Rate (GSR) released by the NCAA indicated that 97 percent of freshmen student-athletes receiving scholarship aid, or recruited individuals participating in programs that do not offer athletic aid, graduated from Duke within six years. Nationally, Duke is fifth among Power 5 institutions with its 97 percent GSR. Notre Dame tops the list at 99 percent while Boston College, Northwestern and Stanford are tied at 98. Among Division I programs overall, Duke tied for 22nd. Columbia, Harvard, Santa Clara and Yale join the Fighting Irish at the top of the list at 99 percent. Among Power 5 schools, the top five in GSR included Notre Dame (99), Boston College (98), Northwestern (98), Stanford (98) and Duke (97).
- A Duke University record 668 student-athletes are represented on the 2024-25 ACC Academic Honor Roll. More than 86 percent of Duke's enrolled student-athletes were named to the Honor Roll as the Blue Devils were second among conference schools with their 668 Honor Roll student-athletes. Cameron Kerr (men's soccer) and Eli Pancol (football) of Duke were among 19 student-athletes that earned a spot on the ACC Honor Roll for the sixth time. Eighteen Blue Devils claimed the distinction for a fifth time.Â
- Duke's Andrew McAdorey (men's lacrosse) and Megan Maransky (field hockey) both earned ACC Postgraduate scholarships. They received the Weaver-James-Corrigan-Swofford Postgraduate Scholarship Award, earning $6,000 each toward their graduate educations.
