EL DORADO, Ark. – Former Duke women's golf standout Erica Shepherd registered her first professional victory Sunday as she claimed the title at the Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout on the Epson Tour in El Dorado.
A 2023 Duke graduate, Shepherd turned in rounds of 75, 68 and 69 over three days for a 4-under-par, 212, to collect the victory. She earned a check of $45,000 for the victory. Shepherd became the first left-handed golfer to win on the Epson Tour.
Entering the final round three shots off the lead, Shepherd notched birdies on holes No. 3 and No. 6 as she made the turn with a 2-under, 34, on the front nine. Shepherd drained a birdie on No. 14 and then sank a 7-foot birdie on No. 18 to claim the victory by one stroke.
"I actually am proud of myself," said Shepherd. "I do not know if I have ever said that before, but like I have said, it has been such a journey and succeeding in pro golf has definitely not been easy for me."
The win earned her 500 points in the Race for the Card rankings, jumping her 57 spots on the leaderboard and now sits at No. 21. Shepherd has momentum and is looking forward to continuing her good play at Indian Wells in the last event of the 2025 Epson Tour season.
"It definitely does not feel real yet, but it has just been a crazy few years of pro golf," said Shepherd. "To finally have won an event and win it here, where the course is so hard, it means so much, but it definitely doesn't feel real yet."
Duke also featured Blue Devil alumnae Gina Kim (T5), Laetitia Beck (T16) and Anne Chen (62) earn paychecks over the weekend.
Shepherd's win marks the 26th all-time by Duke golfers on the Epson Tour. She is the third different Blue Devil to win on the Epson Tour in 2025 – Kim (3) and Beck (1).
The Epson Tour will have a week off before heading to Indian Wells, California for the Tour Championship at the Indian Wells Golf Resort from Oct. 2-5.
