DURHAM, N.C. – Duke graduate running backÂ
Anderson Castle and redshirt sophomore safety
DaShawn Stone received ACC weekly honors following their performances against NC State on Saturday. Castle was named the ACC Running Back of the Week while Stone was chosen as the ACC Defensive Back of the Week.
Castle
rushed for three touchdowns and 92 total yards against NC State. He became just the fifth Blue Devil, and second running back, since 1996 to rush for three or more scores in an ACC game. Castle is one of just seven FBS players with three or more rushing touchdowns in a conference contest this season. Castle's three-touchdown game was the first by a Blue Devil sinceÂ
Riley Leonard's three against Miami on Oct. 22, 2022.Â
The 92 ground yards were the most for Castle since posting 119 yards against Miami (Ohio) during the 2023 season. His first touchdown came in the opening quarter, giving him his first Duke score. The transfer from Appalachian State had recorded eight rushing scores for the Mountaineers. Castle added a second first-half touchdown, securing the first multi-touchdown game of his career. Castle capped the game with a 66-yard rushing scamper, giving him a new career-long rush.Â
Stone finished with a career-high 11 tackles against NC State and has recorded seven or more stops in four of his last five games. In his first season as a starter, Stone tops the Blue Devils with 31 tackles. Saturday against the Wolfpack, Stone set the tone with an interception and four tackles in the opening quarter.Â
Stone's interception against NC State was his first of the 2025 seasons, and second of his career.Â
The ACC's other weekly honors included Virginia's Chandler Morris (quarterback), Trell Harris (receiver) and McKale Boley (offensive line), Miami's Rueben Bain Jr. (defensive line), Syracuse's Antoine Deslauriers (linebacker), Georgia Tech's Marshall Nichols (specialist) and Florida State's Micahi Danzy (rookie).
