DURHAM, N.C. – Offensive tackle
Nick Del Grande earned a place on
The Athletic's Midseason All-Transfer Team. Del Grande has started all seven games and has helped the Blue Devils to a 5-2 mark.
A graduate transfer from Coastal Carolina, Del Grande was a two-time All-Sun Belt selection (2023-24) before arriving in Durham. With the Blue Devils, he was named the
September 14 ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week.
Del Grande, from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, is a key piece of an offensive line that is tied for second nationally in fewest sacks allowed and ranks third in sack yards lost (20). The Blue Devils have allowed three sacks, at Illinois in week two, an intentional grounding against North Carolina and at Virginia. In four conference games, Duke has yielded just 2.0 sacks, tied for the fifth fewest nationally. Individually, Del Grande has not allowed a sack through seven games. He surrendered three pressures in a season-opening win against Tulane but has allowed just three in six games since.
Del Grande has also helped the Blue Devil unit rank tied for seventh nationally and second in the ACC in fewest tackles for loss allowed (21.0) and is tied for third in the country in fewest yards lost on TFLs.
In addition, Duke's offensive line is opening holes for midseason All-America
Nate Sheppard, who is tied for the FBS lead in plays from scrimmage of 20 or more yards with 39 and tops all Power Four players in all-purpose yards per game (173.57) and rushing yards per game (125.00).
Duke (5-2, 2-2 ACC) returns home to welcome Boston College (4-3, 2-2 ACC) for a 12 p.m. Halloween tilt inside Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium.
