Jennie Lee Opens With 71 At North & South Women's Amateur
PINEHURST, N.C.?Duke University rising sophomore Jennie Lee registered a one-under-par, 71, on Monday during the first round of qualifying at the 104th North and South Women’s Amateur in Pinehurst, N.C. Lee is tied for fourth at the 6,253-yard, Par 72 No. 8 course.
Blue Devil incoming freshman Alison Whitaker, who is a native of Melbourne, Australia, is tied for 36th after carding a front nine of 38 and back of 37 to finish with a 75. Lee, who is from Henderson, Nev., shot an opening nine holes of 36 before closing with a 35.
Leading through day one are Brianna Broderick, Piper Miller and Stephanie Otteson with rounds of 70. The Duke duo will play one more round of qualifying before moving to match play on Wednesday.
