The Iron Dukes Varsity Club gives alumni, families and fans a direct way to support the Duke program they care about most. Varsity Club gifts provide sport-specific funding for Duke’s 27 varsity sports, as well as Marching Band and Spirit Squad, helping each program meet annual priorities and provide student-athletes with the resources they need to compete at the highest level.

Because every team’s needs are different, Varsity Club support allows each program to direct funds where they can make the greatest impact. Recent team projects have included locker room renovations, branding projects, practice facility upgrades and the purchase of specialized training equipment. Major gifts of $25,000 or more can make a significant impact in helping programs address these needs.

How the Varsity Club Support Helps

Annual Team Needs

Varsity Club gifts help programs address annual sport-specific needs that may fall outside traditional budget support and directly enhance the student-athlete experience.

Special Projects

Each year, teams also identify special projects that can make a meaningful difference for their student-athletes and competitive environment.

Varsity Club Giving Day

Mark your calendars for the ninth annual Iron Dukes Varsity Club Giving Day on Tuesday, December 1, 2026. This has become Duke Athletics’ most impactful single day of giving, with teams rallying alumni, families and fans to compete for the most dollars raised in 27 hours in support of their student-athletes and program priorities.
