Michael Shuster joined the Duke coaching staff in March 2023, and serves as a graduate assistant coach working primarily with the quarterbacks.
Shuster came to Durham after a two-year stint (2021-22) at Old Dominion University as an offensive graduate assistant. While in Norfolk, Va., Shuster worked closely with the quarterbacks and offensive line, helping mentor offensive lineman Nick Saldiveri to All-Sun Belt Conference honors. Saldiveri later went on to be selected as the No. 103 overall pick in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints.
Before joining the Monarch’s staff, he was a four-year member of the football program at Penn State University from 2016-19. During his time in State College, Shuster helped the Nittany Lions to a 42-11 ledger, including a 2016 Big Ten Championship and wins in the Fiesta (2017) and Cotton Bowls (2019). In addition, he was tabbed a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection during his tenure.
A native of Camp Hill, Pa., Shuster graduated from Penn State with a bachelor’s degree in finance in 2020. He also obtained his master’s degree in sport management from Old Dominion in May 2023.Â
