Meridith Kisting joined the Duke rowing staff as a graduate assistant coach in August of 2016.
A 2015 graduate from the University of Illinois, Kisting spent four years with the Illinois Women’s Rowing Club before joining Duke as a graduate transfer for the 2016 season. Her Fighting Illini rowing club squad won the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) Novice 4+ National Champion in 2012. She was named the team’s 2012 Women’s Rowing Athlete of the Year and received ACRA Second Team All-America in 2014 and 2015. Kisting was also selected to the ACRA All-Great Lakes Region squads in 2014 and 2015.
During her year with the Blue Devils, Kisting began with the 2V8 before moving up to the V8 for the remainder of the season. She was with the 2V8 for the Pac-12 Challenge as the boat finished second against UCLA and Stanford with times of 6:42.5 and 7:19.2. She made her V8 debut at the Dale England Cup and helped the Blue Devils tie for first overall with No. 14 Indiana and No. 17 Notre Dame as the boat placed third in two races, clocking times of 6:53.1 and 6:44.9. Kisting was a member of the V8 for the ACC Championship as the boat placed second in a year-best 6:20.444 mark in helping Duke to a second-place overall finish, its best at the event since 2006. During the program’s first NCAA Championships appearance, she was with the V8 that placed 18th overall, finishing the C Final in 6:31.650.
Kisting majored in biochemistry at Illinois and earned distinction in her curriculum. She is enrolled in the cell and molecular biology program at Duke.
