Ali Watson begins her coaching career at Duke in 2005 as an assistant coach of the cross country and track and field teams, working with the women’s middle and long distance runners. She arrived at Duke in 2004 to train as a graduate student on the cross country squad. After finishing her collegiate running career at Duke, Watson began to gain valuable experience as a volunteer assistant coach during the successful Blue Devil 2005 track season.
Prior to arriving at Duke, Watson attended the College of William & Mary, where she studied psychology and government. During her time at William & Mary, she earned three All-America honors in cross country and track. She also held numerous CAA and ECAC titles and was named William & Mary Athlete of the Year in 2004.
Pursuing a running career beyond the collegiate level, Watson continues to train with the athletes at Duke. She is also pursuing a degree as a part-time student in the Masters of Arts in Liberal Studies program at Duke. She resides in Durham with her husband Josh.
