The only member of Duke’s All-East 4X800-meter relay to run in both the trials and finals at the IC4A Indoor Championships, Cronin is now a member of the No. two and four 4X800 relays all-time at Duke.Cronin’s first collegiate breakthrough came two weeks earlier at the ACC Indoor Championships where he was one of only two freshman to qualify for the 800-meter final.His 1:54.44 in trials held up as the fastest 800 indoors for Duke in 2002. As a prep, Cronin won the Illinois state 1,600-meters in 4:10.53 and ran in the National Scholastic Outdoor Mile against teammate Nick Schneider in 2001. Cronin missed most of his freshman outdoor season with a hamstring problem, but recovered fully enough to finish the outdoor season in mid-May.
