Carol Vergis joined the Duke Athletics staff in December of 2013 and serves as the department’s Executive Director of Resource Acquisition, Premium Events & Sales. She began her tenure at Duke as the Assistant Director of Iron Duke Special Events before being elevated to Associate Director of Special Events in 2015 and then to Director of Special Events in 2016. In March 2020, she transitioned to the Resource Acquisition department serving as the Director of Resource Acquisition, Premium Events & Sales. In 2022, she was elevated to Executive Director of Resource Acquisition/Premium Events and Sales. In this role, she leads premium event sales in Blue Devil Tower and Champions Club driving revenue back into Athletics, while also managing tower/club spaces for football and basketball games. She also serves on the department’s DEIB Committee and as the secondary Sports Administrator for men’s lacrosse.
Vergis came to Duke from the University of Massachusetts where she served as a marketing and sales coordinator. She previously served as the marketing director for The Mars Reel and as a public relations assistant for the NBA's Washington Wizards.
A native of New Haven, Conn., Vergis earned her bachelor's degree in sports sociology and business administration from George Washington University in 2011 and a master's degree in sports industry management from Georgetown University in 2012. She also has a certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University and is involved in multiple local nonprofit organizations.
