Hillary McKinney joined the Duke athletic department in September of 2009 and serves as an education specialist working with the football program.
A 1994 graduate of Duke University, McKinney returned to her alma mater after working eight years at St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco, Calif., serving as an instructor in the science department while coaching varsity tennis. She worked in collegiate athletics as an assistant women's tennis coach at San Francisco State University (2001-02) and as an intern in the Seattle University athletic department (Summer, 2007).
McKinney also worked in private business with Kaiser Permanente (Oakland, Calif.), NetObjects, Inc. (Redwood City, Calif.) and Ventro, Corp. (Mountain View, Calif.).
A native of Houston, Texas, McKinney was a four-year letterwinner on the Duke tennis team from 1991-94, helping the Blue Devils to a 88-18 overall record with four ACC regular season championships, four ACC Tournament titles and four NCAA Tournament berths. She was an ACC doubles flight champion in 1992.
After earning a bachelor of science degree in psychology from Duke in 1994, McKinney went on to receive a master's degree in education from Stanford University in 1998. She also earned a doctorate degree in education from the University of San Francisco in 2007.
