Duke University will host The Rolling Stones in Wallace Wade Stadium at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 8. We encourage concert-goers to arrive early to avoid delays with traffic, parking and lines at ticket gates. Please take a moment to review the following information to help make your concert experience as enjoyable as possible.
The university has secured parking off-campus in the newly renovated American Tobacco Historic District in downtown Durham. Concert-goers are invited to take advantage of this option and visit the city's attractions before the show. Shuttle service to the concert will be available from the American Tobacco lot and from one Duke lot designated for general public parking.
We invite concert-goers to check this website often, especially on the day of the concert, for updated information.
Where can I park?
Parking spaces will be available at about a dozen Duke lots designated for general public parking on a first-come, first-served basis. A campus map is provided on this web site. Park only in marked spaces. Vehicles illegally parked will be towed at the owner's expense.
What are the off-campus parking options?
The university has secured the American Tobacco Historic District's North Parking Deck in downtown Durham off Pettigrew Street and north of the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. About 1,300 spaces will be available. The cost will be $12 per vehicle.
How can I find the Duke lots designated for general public parking?
Follow event parking signs throughout campus to available lots. Directions and a map of campus are provided on this web site.
How far is the walk to the stadium?
Concert-goers should allow 15 minutes to walk to the stadium from Duke lots designated for general public parking.
How much is parking?
The cost to park in Duke lots designated for general public parking will be $15 per vehicle on the day of the show. The cost to park in the American Tobacco lot in downtown Durham will be $12 per vehicle. Only cash will be accepted; exact change is appreciated. Duke students and Duke employees with a current annual parking permit and valid Duke ID card may park for free in Duke lots designated for general public parking. (Please be sure to bring both your permit and ID.)
Can I buy a parking voucher in advance?
A limited number of discounted parking vouchers for Duke lots designated for general public parking are available through Ticketmaster's web site until Sept. 28. Each voucher costs $10 and can be used in any general public parking lot on the day of the event. (A $2 online handling charge will be added to the cost. A delivery fee will also be added if standard mail is not selected.)
Does a voucher guarantee a parking space?
A voucher will guarantee a space in any Duke lot designated for general public parking until the specific lot is full. Concert-goers who arrive early will have the best chance of securing a space closer to the stadium. Some parking lots may require a 15-minute walk.
What time do the Duke lots designated for general public parking open?
2 p.m.
What roads will be closed to traffic?
On the day of the concert, the following roads will be closed: Towerview Road from Science Drive to Duke University Road; Science Drive starting at Highway 751; Campus Drive at Anderson Street toward the traffic circle and Flowers Drive toward the traffic circle. Some roads around the perimeter of campus will have controlled access for people with VIP parking passes or for people who need to park for other events. Controlled access areas include Duke University Road from Anderson Street to Highway 751; Highway 751 from Duke University Road to Erwin Road; and Erwin Road from Highway 751 to Fulton Street. Please follow signs and the directions of traffic officers to help ensure a smooth traffic flow.
Where is parking for persons with disabilities?
Motorists with a state handicapped placard or plate should park in Parking Garage III off Fulton Road. A shuttle to Wallace Wade Stadium will be available. In addition, concert-goers with tickets for the field-level handicapped platform may park in the grounds parking lot off Highway 751. All shuttle buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts.
Where are the stadium entry gates for people with disabilities?
Concert-goers with tickets for field-level handicapped platforms may enter at the southwest gate next to the scoreboard. Concert-goers with tickets for concourse handicapped seating may enter at the north gate.
Where can I park and ride a shuttle bus to Wallace Wade Stadium?
Shuttles will be offered at the American Tobacco Historic District's North Parking Deck in downtown Durham off Pettigrew Street, north of the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Shuttle buses will also serve one Duke lot designated for the general public --- Parking Garage III at Fulton and Pratt Streets. A campus map is provided on this web site.
Is there a fee to park and ride a shuttle?
Shuttle service is free for concert-goers who use the American Tobacco lot and Duke's Parking Garage III. Concert-goers who park elsewhere will be charged $5 each for a roundtrip shuttle ride.
What is the shuttle bus schedule?
Shuttles will start at 4:30 p.m. and stop two hours after the end of the concert.
How long is the shuttle ride to Wallace Wade Stadium from the American Tobacco lot and Duke's Parking Garage III?
Travel time from these two parking areas will be about 15 minutes, depending on traffic. Shuttles will arrive at the lots about every 10 minutes.
At the end of the concert, where do I catch a shuttle back to my parking area, and how will I know which shuttle to take?
Shuttles will pick up and drop off concert-goers on Towerview Drive near Wallace Wade Stadium. Look for signs designating routes. Buses will be marked for the American Tobacco lot or Parking Garage III.
What time do the stadium gates open?
5 p.m.
If I leave the stadium, can I get back inside?
No exit/re-entry is permitted. If concert-goers exit the East Gate beer garden located outside the stadium, they will not be allowed to re-enter the stadium.
Can I drop someone off at the stadium?
Motorists, including taxi drivers, will not be permitted to unload or pick up concert-goers at the stadium.
What items are not permitted inside Wallace Wade Stadium?
Weapons, coolers, backpacks, glass bottles, cans, umbrellas, cameras and video recorders are not allowed inside the stadium. Cell phones are allowed.
Is alcohol permitted in the stadium?
A beer garden outside of the stadium's East Gate will open at 2 p.m. Concert-goers will be allowed to carry beer into the stadium from that location. However, outside alcohol is not permitted. Two other areas inside the stadium will sell beer beginning at 5 p.m.
May I drink beer at my seat?
Yes.
Is smoking permitted inside the stadium?
Smoking is allowed only on the main concourse. It is not permitted in the seating areas.
Where is the First Aid area at the stadium?
The First Aid area is located on the northwest side of the stadium near Section 21.
Will ATMs be available at the stadium?
There will be no ATM machines inside or outside the stadium.
What form of payment do the concessions accept?
The concession stands will accept cash and Duke ID Cards with Flex.
