FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Coming off shooting a five-under-par, 283, on Friday in the opening round of the 2010 Mason Rudolph Women's Championship, the Duke women's golf team struggled on day two as the Blue Devils turned in a nine-over-par, 297, to drop into 10th with 18 holes remaining at the 6,281-yard, par 72 Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.
LSU maintained its lead with the Tigers totaling a 16-under-par, 560, through 36 holes, while Purdue (561), California (563), Georgia (570), Wake Forest (570), Alabama (571), UCLA (572), Southern California (573), Vanderbilt (574) and Duke (580) rounded out the top 10.
"It wasn't a great day for us," commented Head Coach Dan Brooks. "I think everybody fought to the end. We've got to work to kind of lessen the damage a little bit. For the most part, think everybody kept fighting hard. That is all you can ask."
As a team, Duke totaled only five birdies, which was 14 fewer than the 19 on Friday.
Duke senior Kim Donovan and freshman Lindy Duncan each carded one-over-par rounds of 73 on Saturday and the duo are now tied for 20th with a two-under-par, 142. Donovan, who is from Hopkinton, Mass., registered 15 pars on the day to go along with a birdie on No. 11 and bogeys on No. 8 and No. 17.
For the second straight day, Duncan closed her round with a birdie on the 464-yard, par five 18th. She made the turn at even par and posted two bogeys, one birdie and six pars to close out her day. She hit 13 greens, 10 fairways and had 33 putts in her round.
A day after Laetitia Beck posted a three-under-par, 69, the freshman struggled on Saturday with a five-over-par, 77. She is now tied for 43rd with a two-over-par, 146, heading into the final round. Sophomore Courtney Ellenbogen turned in a three-over-par, 75, in the second round as she recorded three bogeys and 15 pars. A product of Blacksburg, Va., Ellenbogen hit nine greens, 13 fairways and had 29 putts.

Duke will tee off on Sunday in the final round beginning at 7:43 a.m.
