
Men's Tennis Opens ITA All-American Pre-Qualifying

TULSA, Okla. - Two Blue Devils advanced to the third round of singles play Saturday in the pre-qualifying bracket of the2011 ITA All-American Championships, hosted by the University of Tulsa. The winners of the 16 final matches on Sunday advance to the qualifying stage to compete for trip to the main draw.
After receiving a bye in the first round, senior Luke Marchese outlasted Yanick Mandl of Louisiana-Lafayette, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (4), in round two. Marchese advances to Sunday's third round of pre-qualifying play, where he will face Temple's Filip Rams at 10 a.m CDT.
Sophomore Cale Hammond also advanced to Sunday's third round following a bye in round one and a withdraw in the second round of play. Hammond will meet David Cavalcanti of Wichita in a 9 a.m. CDT match on Sunday.
Senior Torsten Wietoska - the top seed in the pre-qualifying bracket - dropped his second-round match on Saturday to Jamie Whiteford of William & Mary, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (1), after earning a bye in the first round.
