Rape Invited to Train With the U-23 U.S. National Team

DURHAM, N.C. – When the United States U-23 National Team comes together from April 24 - May 1 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., Duke University redshirt sophomore Ashley Rape will be one of 24 players training.
Head coach Bill Irwin will lead the group of college players that will train as well as play against the U.S. U-20 National Team that features Blue Devil teammate Mollie Pathman and incoming freshman Kelly Cobb on April 27. The squad will also go up against women's club Ajax of Los Angeles on April 29 and WPSL side Orange County Waves on April 30.
Rape, a native of Dallas, Texas, started all of her 21 matches played on the defensive end for the Blue Devils. As a team, Duke registered 10 shutouts and notched an 11-7-4 record. Rape came back from suffering a torn ACL on two different occasions that caused her to miss the end of her freshman campaign and the 2009 season. The 5-8 defender totaled two assists on the season against Clemson and California.
She last trained with a U.S. squad in March of 2008, when she was a senior in high school.
