The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that have achieved a Team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year. All six members of the ACC were named to the list but Duke was the only institution singled out as a Top Performer, ranking third with a collective GPA of 3.52. Central Michigan (3.61) and Sacred Heart (3.55) owned the top two slots on the list.
Twelve Blue Devils were named to the Division I National Academic Squad highlighted by four-year recipients seniors Chelsea Amsley and Abby Hassinger and redshirt junior Devon Gagliardi. Other Blue Devils to garner the honor include senior Mary Nielsen, juniors Ashley Camano and Emmie Le Marchand, sophomores Lauren Blazing and Jessica Buttinger and freshmen Hannah Barreca, Amanda Kim, Kendra Perrin and Sarah Urdahl.
The National Academic Squad recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through their first semester of the 2011-12 academic year. Duke led the ACC with 12 honorees followed by North Carolina (9), Virginia (8), Maryland (7), Boston College (6) and Wake Forest (2).
